Pure adventure: The new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure

2 meses atrás 59

The long-awaited BMW R 1300 GS Adventure is here. The new touring bike from the Bavarian manufacturer was unveiled this Friday at the BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

At the heart of the bike is the successful 1,300cc twin-cylinder boxer engine, delivering a maximum power output of 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It promises to be the most powerful boxer engine ever produced by BMW.

The design is more compact than its predecessor, thanks to the transmission being placed under the engine, along with a new camshaft arrangement. The claw-shift gearbox features six speeds.

Optionally, the new Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) can be included for fully automatic clutch operation with manual or automated shifts. The frame features a main frame and a bolted-on rear frame, also supported by the engine.

New Dynamic Suspension Adjustment

One of the major innovations is the introduction of the new Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) as standard equipment. This system combines dynamic front and rear damping adjustment with corresponding spring stiffness adjustment, depending on the selected driving mode, driving conditions, and maneuvers. This ensures safety, performance, comfort, and an emotional ride on all terrains, whether solo or with a passenger.

The suspension includes an EVO telelever and DSA at the front central support, and an aluminum swingarm with BMW Motorrad EVO Paralever and DSA at the rear.

Braking is handled by a dual semi-floating disc with four-piston radial calipers at the front and a single disc with a four-piston floating caliper at the rear. The bike features BMW Motorrad ABS Pro. The front wheel measures 19 inches, and the rear wheel measures 17 inches.

Adaptive vehicle height control

The BMW R 1300 GS Adventure also introduces new adaptive vehicle height control, and as an optional extra, adaptive vehicle height control comfort.

The adaptive height control automatically adjusts the bike’s height to match the conditions, ensuring comfort without compromising driving dynamics. The height is reduced by 30 millimeters at low speeds or when the bike is stationary.

The adaptive vehicle height control comfort is designed for shorter riders or to further enhance accessibility. It incorporates all the functions of adaptive height control and a standard height that is 20 millimeters lower.

Four riding modes

In its entry-level version, the new BMW R 1300 GS Adventure will feature four (not three) riding modes: Rain and Road allow adaptation to most road conditions. The Eco mode maximizes the range of the 30-liter aluminum fuel tank. The Enduro mode has specific set-up for off-road use.

Equipped with Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) with a braking function, the bike can optionally receive the Riding Assistant. This system includes components of the Active Cruise Control (ACC), front collision warning (FCW), lane change warning, and the new rear-end collision warning (RECW).

The RECW is a novelty, warning of an imminent rear-end collision to the traffic ahead by intensifying the warning lights.

LED lighting

LED technology dominates the lighting of this BMW. The front features a small headlight unit with an LED for low and high beams, as well as four additional LEDs for daytime running and side lights. There are also two auxiliary headlights integrated into the fairing. The turn indicators are also LED, integrated into the handguards at the front and the fairing at the rear.

Colours

The basic version of the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure comes in Racing Red, with a silver fuel tank, black handlebars and rims, red and black seat, and red handguard extensions.

The Triple Black variant emphasizes black on components like the engine guard, with gray handguard extensions, silver rims, and handlebars. The heated seats are black and gray. There is a high windshield with large wind deflectors and a luggage rack.

The GS Trophy features Racing Blue metallic, combined with black parts, Avus Black matte metallic, Light White, and Racing Red stripes. The sporty windshield is smaller.

The Option 719 Karakorum presents the R 1300 GS Adventure in exclusive Aurelius Green matte metallic, with golden lines and an Opt. 719 badge on the tank cover. Anodized gold components include the rims and handlebars, while the engine guard is black, and the handguard extensions are painted gray.
